NFTs as a software license for audiovisual art software — Objects
Utility is a hot topic in the NFT world. Some use NFTs as an access pass to virtual communities, others — as in game collectibles. For some artists it’s a straightforward a way to let their fans support their work, and for fans — to invest in their favourite creators.
The space is very new and ripe for experimentation. Wether it’s in music, generative art, or gaming NFT niche, the coming years will show the potential NFTs hold in providing digital ownership, rewarding artists more fairly, and inventing new business models. And we're here to contribute.
Introducing Objects
Objects is our latest collection of 4,000 NFTs that work as a software license for VOID — our audiovisual art software. Targeting music producers, VJ’s, and visual artists, our goal is to fuse the worlds of music and generative art NFTs.
How does the license work?
Each NFT represents a singe software license. By holding an Object in your MetaMask wallet you are granted access to the software upon logging in. This is possible because VOID is a browser-based tool and checks for the presence of the NFT whenever you log in.
This approach opens doors to new user experiences and business models. Users are able to freely trade their license on a secondary market, and the business can receive increasing royalties on license re-sells as the company continues growing. Even more, it’s the first time a user can indirectly invest in the company by using their products or services.
VOID — your gateway to audiovisual art
VOID is our visual synthesis tool, built to let artists intuitively create stunning, complex visuals for their own or curated music. It’s based on WebGL2 and is packed with dozens of interesting features:
- Automatic music sync;
- Sequencing (splitting music track in multiple visuals);
- Asset import (photo, video, 3D);
- Animations and Spectrum Response;
- 300+ Preset Library, updated continuously;
- Effects, effects, and more effects;
And these are just a few. We’ll be doing an in-depth VOID article later on because there’s just so many exciting elements and techniques to cover. Meanwhile, you can visit our Discord where you can find some tutorials and chat with our creators about their experience.
VOID is constantly evolving as we continue working on it. We have big plans for the software, including live playback for venues, hardware integration, and a venture into the Metaverse. We thrive on user feedback and always do our best to work on features our community members are excited about the most.
Creator Platform (Feb 2022)
On of the most important features, perhaps, is our upcoming Creator Platform. A marketplace (à la Foundation) where VOID artists will be able to mint and sell their creations. Whether solo or in collaboration with music producers, Creator Platform will serve as a place for artists to monetize their new creative outlet. Our hopes are that VOID becomes a new hobby for people in this space, for some — maybe even a profession.
It will also be up to the creator to choose between auctioning a standalone art piece or adding additional utility to it. For example, our first Artist Collection came with custom vinyl, production masterclasses, and event passes.
